The new YouTube app for Windows Phone isn't winning too many friends.

Microsoft got into trouble in May over its native YouTube app after Google complained that it violated its terms of service. After hashing out their difficulties, the two companies teamed up to create a new version that debuted this past Tuesday.

But based on a slew of nasty user comments, the app may have launched before it was ready.

So far, the app has garned an average rating of three stars out of five. And among the more than 10,000 reviews on the YouTube Windows Phone page, many of them display just a single star.

Some users say they can't access any content. Others are criticizing the app for crashing or freezing. Many are complaining that the app simply delivers an error message saying that "something went wrong and we don't know what." And several are unhappy because they say the app worked fine before the update.

CNET contacted Microsoft and Google for comment and will update the story with any further details.
