As WTOP News reports, the unidentified 25-year-old Maryland woman told the sheriffs that texting and driving had caused her to do the latter imperfectly. Her Hyundai ended up submerged in 5 feet of water, but, still with her wits about her, she managed to clamber out of the driver's side door to safety. Though she ended up in the hospital, she was reportedly unhurt. Yet, on a different road, at a different time many people might have been seriously injured. The Charles County Sheriff's Office released a statement to say that it is continuing its investigation and requesting witnesses to come forward. The case brings to mind the actions of some in New Jersey, who are trying not only to make texter-drivers responsible for their actions, but also those who knowingly text them when they're driving.
