Microsoft has removed a series of online video advertisements that were critical of Apple's latest iPhones after they were up for just a few hours.

The videos, which began with "A fly on the wall in Cupertino?" depicted fictional meetings supposedly taking place at Apple's headquarters in Cupertino, Calif. They were posted from Microsoft's Windows Phone YouTube account, and at nearly two minutes in length was unlikely to be shown on TV.

It's unclear why exactly the videos were made private. One possibility is that they were ill-received, and even mocked on numerous social networks. Some also suggested similarities between one of the unseen fictional executives and late Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs.

CNET has contacted Microsoft for comment, and will update this post when we know more.

For those who missed it, here's a mirrored version of the main video:

Updated at 1:30 p.m. to note that there were multiple videos as part of the campaign.
