Apple's made no secret that it's using larger batteries in its new iPhones, but just how much larger they are has been unclear since the devices were announced earlier this week.

Digging through regulatory filings with the Federal Communications Commission, Anandtech has wrangled up the specs for both models and found around 5 to 10 percent jumps in the sizes from last year's iPhone 5.

That works out to about an 1570 mAh battery in the iPhone 5S, up from the iPhone 5's 1440 mAh battery, and around a 1507 mAh battery for the iPhone 5C.

It's worth pointing out these are from regulatory filings, and not necessarily 100 percent accurate. We've reached out to Apple for more confirmation, though the company typically does not list battery information beyond estimate usage times for activities.

Both the iPhone 5C and 5S are rated for 10 hours of talk time over 3G, 250 hours of standby time, 10 hours of video playback, 40 hours of audio playback, and between 8 to 10 hours of Internet use depending on the wireless connection. The main difference is an extra 2 hours of talk time over 3G and an extra 25 hours of standby time over last year's iPhone 5.
