The 11.6-inch HD LED back-lit display to take advantage of the Chrome interface. It measures 0.78-inches and weighs 2.98 pounds. Of course, the release of the bargain touch-screen Chromebook is timed perfectly for the shopping season. "The Acer C720 Chromebook line has been praised for its performance and battery life, and this new touch screen model allows us to address the needs of an even wider range of customers with exciting new capabilities," Acer CTO Arif Maskatia, said in a statement. "We're certain many holiday shoppers will jump at the chance to get a touch screen Chromebook for just $299.99." Since February, when Google launched its Chromebook Pixel, there's been just one option for those seeking a Chromebook with a touch screen. It came with a high-resolution screen -- and a high price tag: $1,299.


On Tuesday, however, Acer announced a touch screen Chromebook option that's less than a quarter of the price. The latest in its new C720P Chromebook series comes with a touch screen and will go on sale early next month at Amazon, Best Buy, and the Acer Store for just $299.99.



It features an Haswell-based Intel Celeron processor and an 11.6-inch HD LED back-lit display, and boasts "great multi-tasking performance," up to 7.5 hours of battery life, 32GB of flash storage, and a 7-second boot-up. The 11.6-inch HD LED back-lit display to take advantage of the Chrome interface. It measures 0.78-inches and weighs 2.98 pounds.
