By 12:22 p.m., the yet-to-be-explained problem still hadn't been fixed, but Tumblr apologized for what it called "intermittent errors" and said that it hoped to be back in service soon. Seven-year-old Tumblr plays host to 166 million blog sites, many of which are run and enjoyed by teens and tweens. Last year, the New York-based company was purchased by Yahoo for $1.1 billion as part of the Internet veteran's larger effort to rebuild its brand name with younger Web denizens. Tumblr did not immediately return a request for comment.
