The Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades say that Twitter is attempting to censor it and its message.

Twitter has suspended an account for Hamas' armed wing, the organization said on Thursday.

Speaking to the AFP in an interview, a spokesman for the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades said that the alleged takedown was a form of censorship on the part of Twitter, adding that the company was falling prey to Israel's agenda. The person went on to say that the takedown "is a clear violation of Twitter's rules and regulations."

Twitter has removed certain accounts from its service from time to time for a host of reasons. The company, however, does not comment on the nature of such takedowns, and told the AFP that that policy is rooted in its desire to maintain "privacy and security."

Interestingly, not all Qassam Brigades have been taken down. As of this writing, the Arabic-language version, as well as the Hebrew version, are still online.
