Sprint MVNO Ting dropped the price of its data rates, the company announced on Monday.

The two-year-old mobile reseller, which is owned by Tucows, shaved down the cost to almost all of its data options. What's more, Ting's restructuring did away with one category completely -- XXL -- to focus on making data more affordable.

Heavy data users will reap the most benefits, as Ting skims its 2.25 cent-per-MB charge down to 1.5 cents. Ting says it was able to lower costs after negotiating a better deal for wholesale data.

Ting, which rides Sprint's network, lets customers create their own plans with mix-and-match categories for messages, minutes, and megabytes.
