Two delicious fried meals, of course. Except that's not exactly true. In fact, anyone who has dove in too deep into super-size fries knows there is an inversely proportional relationship going on there; sometimes more is most definitely not better. Bulky waistlines often go hand in hammy hand with bulky deep fryers. Since deep-fried foods happen to be delicious, modern technology strives to counter this effect by enabling cooks to use less oil. Tefal has done this with their ActiFry appliance. And now, they even made that smaller. The Tefal FZ2000 ActiFry Mini is a countertop-friendly kitchen appliance. Designed to be a waistline-friendly kitchen gadget, the new model makes it easier for kitchens of all sizes to enjoy cooking with less oil. Instead of the vat of (smelly) oil used in a traditional deep fryer, the device uses about a tablespoon of oil along with a stirring paddle and circulating hot air. Capable of cooking about 1.3 pounds of food (compared to the 2.2 pound capacity of the larger model), the new, smaller size gives hope to the countertop-conscious as a space-saving appliance. It's not available yet in the US (where the ActiFry is sold under the T-fal brand name), so until that time, those super-size batches will just have to do. Via Gizmodo
