The idea of wireless charging was already speculated upon when Motorola confirmed there would be no USB port for charging. Jim Wicks, the Motorola executive in charge of the Moto 360, would only say that the company was working on a "secret" method of charging the device. OLED display technology, meanwhile, is commonly used in smartphones, and has been touted for its energy efficiency. Wicks wouldn't go into detail, but noted that power management was a priority for the company.
