That's the word from Mary Meeker, who at the D11 Conference provided her annual glimpse into the state of the Internet for 2013.

The worldwide Internet population is growing rapidly, according to a new report from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers general partner Mary Meeker.

Speaking today at the AllThingsD D11 Conference, Meeker reported that there are now 2.4 billion Internet users around the world, representing an 8 percent year-over-year gain. Still, there's a lot of work to be done: only 34 percent of the world's population is currently on the Internet. In the U.S., Internet population penetration sits at 78 percent, according to Meeker.

Google was crowned the top Internet destination by Meeker, who says that the search giant welcomes over 1.1 billion people to its sites every month. Microsoft came in second place with a little over 800 million users. Facebook was just a bit behind Microsoft.

Another major bit of news from Meeker's presentation was the staggering growth across the Internet in mobile device usage. According to Meeker, mobile traffic's contribution to total Internet traffic was just 0.9 percent in May 2009. A year later, it hit 2.4 percent. This May, that figure jumped to 15 percent. By the end of next year, mobile devices could account for a whopping 30 percent of all Internet traffic.
