A new video makes it pretty clear the company has something to show us in New York next month.

It's been a while, but LG looks to have another Android hero phone about ready to show off to succeed the Optimus G (above).

Summer smartphone teaser season is clearly in full swing now. We've seen the first ads for the long-awaited Moto X from the new, Google-flavored Motorola, and now LG has tipped its hat to show that it plans to reveal the successor to the Optimus G next month in New York.

There's no visuals and scant details on the phone itself in the promotional video below, which comes a few weeks after formal invitations started to be sent out for an August 7th event. Both include not-so-subtle hints that we can expect to be introduced to a G2 then. This is in line with what we've heard previously about a new LG Optimus flagship arriving in stores in the fall with a 1080p display of no less than 5 inches.

Check out the promo video below for yourself and see if you can spot any other hints amid the pretty city shots, clever editing and plentiful photographers. Perhaps we can expect big things from the G2's camera?

What upcoming hero phone release excites you the most? The Moto X, the G2 or the next iPhone?
