Google must change its privacy policy or face the consequences--so says Britain's privacy watchdog.

The UK Information Commissioner's Office has warned Google that it faces "formal enforcement action" if the privacy policy isn't amended before 20 September, although a fine--which could be up to £500,000 ($750,000)--is unlikely.

Google is in hot water in several countries over its combined privacy policy, which breaks down the barriers between different Google accounts and has no option for users to opt out.
