Back in the heady summer days of rampant Moto X rumors, there was some talk that the first phone to come from the mind meld of a Google-owned Motorola might come with a brand spanking new version of Android.

Alas, it was not to be and the Moto X launched with Jelly Bean. Later we were introduced to the merging of sweet mobile software and random branding synergy that is Android 4.4 KitKat on the Nexus 5.

Now, Motorola's CEO Dennis Woodside says it's finally almost time for the Moto X to get its shot at the only mobile OS named after a (sigh) brand name sweet chocolate confection. Woodside said on Wednesday that KitKat would be rolling out to Moto X users in "a matter of weeks."

If you're impatient and adventurous, a leaked build of KitKat for the (apparently T-Mobile version of the) Moto X has popped up over at XDA Developers.
