When you present a $40,000 luxury television to Amazon shoppers, you get hilariously snarky reviews in return. December 3, 2013 1:37 PM PST Amazon reviewers suggest placing this in your castle. (Credit: Samsung) Amazon reviewers may never be able to top the epic community art project that evolved out of Tuscan Whole Milk, but they're sure putting in a good try with the feedback they're delivering on the Samsung's UN85S9 85-inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV. The massive $39,997.99 set comes with Amazon Prime delivery and a whole host of witty reviews from pretend buyers. So far, 116 (and rising) reviewers give the TV 4.5 stars out of 5, even though it's unclear if any of the reviewers actually bought the beast. User Cheryl A. Gustafson writes in a review titled "Did you see it comes with FREE batteries?": "At first I hesitated to make the purchase, but then I saw the two AA batteries were free with the remote, and I was all in! Having this really fills in that empty space we called a bathroom!" Reviewer Travis C. Meidell describes the set as "Great for a castle or a countryside mansion." Other reviewers have claimed the mega TV would make a great addition to the space shuttle, the Starship Enterprise, and the Death Star. Amazon user brian0918 gives the TV just one star, noting its lack of RCA plugs. "I got this thing all unboxed and mounted on the wall of my apartment (had to cover up the door, but I can use the window), only to find out it doesn't even have the video plugs I need. You'd think with the price that they'd come standard. Now how am I supposed to watch my old X-Files tapes?!" Capt. P.T. Wacky managed to solve the VHS issue, writing: "Took some tinkering to get the VCR to plug into the HDMI port, but once I got that settled, it's been great! The built-in sub makes my Atari 2600 sound amazing, too. Highly recommend!" So, what set off Amazon reviewers this time? It's partly the massive price tag and partly the silly $5,002 discount off the list price. Plus, the market for an 85-inch television is pretty limited to people with both lots of money and lots of space. One thing is certain, Amazon won't be delivering this 190-pound monster by drone.
