- We get an early peek at the newest model from Jeep. March 3, 2014 8:35 AM PST The first photos of the new, small Jeep model have started to leak to the web ahead of the 2014 Geneva auto show courtesty of the folks over on Jalopnik. (Credit: Jeep via Jalopnik) Dubbed the 2015 Jeep Renegade (a much better name than the rumored "Jeepster"), the crossover will likely be based on the Fiat-Chrysler group Small Wide platform architecture that underpins the Fiat 500L and will be sized to compete with other small crossovers such as the Nissan Juke and Rogue and the Kia Soul. Most Renegades will likely be front-drivers, destined for on-road and soft-road duty, but don't be surprised if Jeep offers a "Trail-Rated" all-wheel version similar to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Rumors point to two available powertrains when the Renegade reaches North America: the a 1.4L turbocharged engine from the Dodge Dart mated to a six-speed manual transmission and good for 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and the 2.4L MultiAir Tigershark engine and nine-speed automatic combo from the Jeep Cherokee, good for 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. We won't have long to wait for clarification and confirmation. The 2015 Jeep Renegade will make its official debut tomorrow at the 2014 Geneva auto show alongside the new 2.0-liter turbodiesel version of the Jeep Cherokee.
