Most Renegades will likely be front-drivers, destined for on-road and soft-road duty, but don't be surprised if Jeep offers a "Trail-Rated" all-wheel version similar to the 2014 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. Rumors point to two available powertrains when the Renegade reaches North America: the a 1.4L turbocharged engine from the Dodge Dart mated to a six-speed manual transmission and good for 160 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque and the 2.4L MultiAir Tigershark engine and nine-speed automatic combo from the Jeep Cherokee, good for 184 horsepower and 171 pound-feet of torque. We won't have long to wait for clarification and confirmation.
