Another Nokia event may be gearing up for the end of September, says Windows Phone Central. But what will be on the agenda? (Credit: CNET) Nokia will kick off a two-day event in New York City on September 26 and 27, claim the folks at Windows Phone Central. No details were spilled as to the nature of the event, or the topic. But one obvious candidate is a Nokia tablet. The company has traditionally used New York City to unveil major new Lumia devices. In September 2012, Nokia launched the Lumia 920. Earlier this month, the Lumia 1020 made its debut. With a full lineup of Lumia phones now up for sale, the time may be ripe for a long-awaited tablet. In February, Nokia CEO Stephen Elop said that the company was looking "very closely" at tablets but had nothing to announce yet. In May, Jo Harlow, executive vice president of smart devices for Nokia, also teased the notion, saying: "We're very interested in tablets and that's an area we're looking at." Nokia reportedly had plans to develop a 10-inch tablet outfitted with Windows RT. But the company decided to nix it in favor of one running the full version of Windows 8, The Verge said earlier this month. Nokia is currently testing a tablet among different carriers, multiple sources told WP Central. If that's true, the company could coincide the launch of a tablet with the release of Windows 8.1, which should reach consumers not too long after the summer ends. In response to a possible NYC event, a Nokia spokesperson told CNET that the company does not comment on rumors or speculation.
