- Click your way through a virtual race with the Stig on the Google Street View version of the "Top Gear" test track. January 23, 2014 9:05 AM PST The Stig does doughnuts around a Street View car. (Credit: Video screenshot by Amanda Kooser/CNET) If you've ever wanted to take a spin around the "Top Gear" test track in the UK, but don't qualify as a Star in a Reasonably Priced Car, now's your chance. The famous airport-based track has just debuted on Google Street View. An added bonus to the series of photos is that the Stig accompanies you along the way, starting off with a drag race from the starting line. Just look for the white Mercedes SLS AMG Black with the gull wing doors and the helmeted mystery man behind the wheel. The Street View Opel four-door doesn't stand a chance. If you're not intimately familiar with the test track's turns, it can be a little hard to stay on the proper path. Should you wander off, you'll get a chance to see some of the "Top Gear" filming facilities and ogle the interesting cars parked there. I have to envy the Street View driver who gets to sit there while the Stig does tight doughnuts around the camera-equipped vehicle, tire smoke flying into the air. Gearheads will enjoy the romp around the track. Those who aren't initiated into the world of "Top Gear" will wonder why there's excitement over a bunch of pavement. As you get to the end of navigating the map, I hope you hear Jeremy Clarkson's voice in your head, shouting, "And across the line!"
